A movie made in Round Valley! Day of Vengeance

Film: Day of Vengeance (a film made in Covelo!) More than 20 years ago, a young filmmaker named Isaac Pingree came to Covelo with an ambitious idea: make a feature-length movie in a small California town using local locations, local people, and a very small-budget independent film crew.

The real fun of Day of Vengeance for Covelo residents isn’t necessarily the plot. It’s seeing Covelo itself on the screen — and seeing people you may recognize. When Pingree made the film, he held auditions here and recruited local residents as extras. The production used local homes, buildings and other locations, and the crew spent about six weeks filming around Round Valley.

So come watch a little piece of Covelo’s cinematic history — a homegrown Hollywood adventure, made by a young filmmaker who saw something film-worthy in our valley. It may be a low-budget movie, but that’s part of the charm. Most of all, it’s a chance to see Covelo as it looked two decades ago and perhaps spot a familiar face or two in the crowd.

The film is about an hour and forty minutes long and we’ll also share the “Behind the Scenes” extra, which runs another 20 minutes or so. Perhaps a few of the locals who appeared will have some stories to share.
